The main task of "Another Minsk" is not to show our city as we usually see it: with clean licked pavements and dazzling street lights, neat squares and green zones, with bright show-windows of boutiques and shops, always hurrying people and dozing outskirts. No. You will see another side which hides its face like a shadow sneaking a man.
Its face is many-sided - these are cozy roofs covered with rust, dark attics of old houses, webs of antennas and wires. Unfinished high blocks belonging to the world of the sun, winds and open spaces. These are deserted hangars and protracted buildings, showing their thorns from dark lifeless window openings. The whole frozen factories and plants that amaze any imagination with their scale and complexity. Industrial area with mechanics living according to its own rules and forcing every organics out of its way, with smoking chimney-stalks that disappear somewhere in the dirty-gray milk of the sky. Railways with their captivating cold steel beauty and permanent creosote smell. Wells of high and narrow yards with peeling off stucco, drain-pipes and cable interlacing. Lonely streets where a man is a rare and desired guest.
Maybe it can be called the back side of the city. A mysterious and unusual island (and for somebody a whole continent) in the ocean of the standardized and ugly world.
